St. Elizabeth’s Church Adaptive Reuse converted the historically preserved former St. Elizabeth’s Protestant Episcopal Church at 1900 S. 16th Street in Philadelphia into a mixed-use, multifamily residential development with integrated event space. Originally constructed in the 1800s, the approximately 33,230-square-foot building spans three stories above grade with a partially finished basement. The renovation delivered 31 apartment units, including studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, along with shared amenities and a future café space located within the building tower. Unitas Engineering provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and fire alarm engineering services, designing new building systems following the removal of all existing MEP infrastructure. The project included coordinated white-box utility provisions for the event space to accommodate future tenant fit-out, while delivering permit-ready construction documents to support adaptive reuse within a historically significant structure.
